Winter Health Check
2011 may have drawn to a close but there is no let-up in activity at Mercedes-Benz South Wales, which is helping customers prepare for the winter in confidence and in pocket.
Winter health checks are now being offered that ensure customers can enjoy the complete reassurance that their cars are ready for any impending cold snap when driving conditions will be at their most demanding. Manufacturer-trained technicians will inspect the underside of the vehicle and check its lighting, tyre pressures, battery levels, windscreen wipers and the front and rear brake pads to make sure all is in optimum working order. They will also assess the fluid levels of the engine cooling system, brake system, power steering and windscreen washer.
Many Mercedes-Benz drivers have already been making tracks to Mercedes-Benz South Wales for cold weather tyres, which, priced from as little as £495 for a full set, are increasingly sought-after.
Specifically designed and tested to perform better when the temperature drops below 7°C, the advanced rubber compounds and tread patterns of the tyres provide up to 50 per cent more traction than standard tyres. By offering extra grip and better handling, cold weather tyres can also significantly help to cut braking distances by 10 per cent on cold, wet surfaces and as much as 50 per cent on ice and snow.
“As well as delivering optimum mobility and safety, cold weather tyres generate financial benefit too,” explained Nigel Price, Mercedes-Benz South Wales’ Group After Sales Manager. “Switching tyres according to the season increases the mileage of both sets but, during the winter months, cold weather tyres can last 20 per cent longer than their conventional counterparts.
“And it’s no hassle alternating between tyres either,” added Nigel. “As part of our service, we will swap the tyres over, deliver the summer set to the customer’s home and refit them again in the spring.”
