Mercedes-Benz at the Geneva Motor Show
What was on the Mercedes-Benz stand in Geneva?
At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz showcased an abundance of world premiere vehicles as a clear demonstration that the brand offers vehicles to suit all motorists’ needs.
New Mercedes A-Class
Starting off the parade of new models is the brand-new Mercedes A-Class which is now available for order from £25,800. Mercedes have revolutionised the stunning hatchback with a new face, an entirely new interior and a range of revised petrol and diesel engines. There are a choice of specs: SE, Sport or AMG Line, however, all come with high level spec including the new MBUX infotainment system, voice control, comfort suspension, 16” alloys, DAB radio, air conditioning and safety tech. The A250 is capable of 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.
New Mercedes C-Class
Alongside the new Mercedes A-Class as a debutant at Geneva was also the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class in both saloon and estate form. The heavily revised C-Class saloon will boast a whole range of new infotainment fixtures, connectivity solutions and engine options and will go on sale from around £30,000 later this year.
A reworked front end including new bumpers, revised headlights and tail lamps give the C-Class a new look. Although the new engines haven’t been confirmed, it is widely expected the C-Class will benefit from a selection of the E-Class range engines that should see a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine and a 2.0 litre turbodiesel option. Orders will begin in April with a delivery date expected in August or September.
New Mercedes-AMG GT
Last and by no means least, on Mercedes’ impressive list of debutants from the 2018 Geneva Motor Show is the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe. The four-door Coupe will be the fifth dedicated model from Mercedes-AMG. With a whopping 630bhp, a top speed of 196mph and a 0-62mph time of just 3.2 seconds, it’s certainly set to get the heart racing. The sporty saloon-come-coupe will be made available with two petrol engines: a 3.0 litre six-cylinder with a mild-hybrid system and a 4.0 litre V8 which will be available in two stages of tune in the GT63 4Matic+ and GT63 S 4Matic+.
The GT is set to go on sale later this year with deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2019 and will be priced from around £85,000.
