Mercedes GLC 300 e Plug-in Hybrid SUV Prices Announced
Summer 2020 will see the arrival of the Mercedes GLC 300 e plug-in hybrid SUV. The prices for the car have just been announced, coming in from £49,687. The GLC 300 e Coupe will be starting at £52,562. The GLC 300 e is the 20th electric model in the Mercedes range, which includes both hybrids and fully-electric vehicles.
Deliveries will be starting in the summer for this new PHEV across the UK. Sharing a plug-in system with the E 300 e, the GLC features a 208bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine together with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and a 120bhp electric motor, pushing energy to all four wheels. Its 13.5kWh battery delivers a pure electric range of 29 miles based on NEDC testing. CO2 emissions have been given as a WLTP-certified 117.7mpg. Wallbox charging for this SUV can be completed in under two hours thanks to the 7.4kw charger, or five hours with a three-pin plug.
Speeds of up to 81 mph can be achieved using electric alone, and the car can go from 0 to 60 in only 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 143 mph. Four trim levels are available, offering flexibility to buyers who want to stick to the most affordable option or spend a little extra on additional features.
The GLC 300 e is available in AMG Line trim. It benefits from 19" alloy wheels, artificial leather sports seats, plus the Mercedes MBUX infotainment system. By choosing the AMG Line Premium, drivers can also benefit from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 20" alloys, ambient lighting, a 12.3" digital panel, and LED headlights. There is also the option of the AMG Line Premium Plus, and AMG Line Ultimate trim levels for those who want to add extras to their package.
Features included in the AMG Line Premium Plus include 20" alloy wheels, with a design specific to the model, and a panoramic sunroof on the SUV (which is a sliding sunroof on the coupe). It also features keyless entry, electronic front seats and steering column from the Memory Package, plus a sound system from Burmester. The top-line AMG Line Ultimate trim level also adds air suspension.
The new 13.5kWh battery on the GLC 300 e plug-in hybrid SUV replaces an 8kWh battery, making the newer model much more efficient. It now has the same battery as the C300 e and the E300e to ensure it keeps up with other hybrids. The brand also announced pricing for the GLE diesel-electric hybrids, which will also soon be available. Like the GLC 300 e, the GLE has received an update for more efficiency and low emissions.
